Australia is soon going to ban social media for users 16 years of age or older. Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced that the government is introducing policies to protect the mental health of the country’s children. The decision is quite tough. The government is preparing to implement it by next year. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma has praised this step. Prime Minister Albanese said that social media is harming children. It is dangerous for the youth also. This kind of content is emerging on social media which is misleading children and youth. The law would essentially impose an age limit on major platforms without any exemptions, making Australia’s new policy one of the strictest internationally.
For this, platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Till now no country has taken such a step where such stringent criteria have been used for login on social media platforms. After the implementation of this law, it will be the responsibility of social media platforms to prevent underage users from logging on to their platforms.
