Last week, the Supreme Court had approved setting sub-quotas in SC and ST reservations. The court had said that if the state governments feel that any caste in the SC and ST category is more backward, then a sub-quota can be set for it. Not only this, the constitutional bench of 7 judges had said with a majority of 4-3 that the creamy layer should also be identified in SC and ST. People coming under the creamy layer in this category should not get the benefit of reservation. Instead, priority should be given to the poor of the same society. While this decision of the apex court has been welcomed by one section, a large section of the Dalit society is angry.

For the last two days, a trend has been going on against it on Twitter. Not only this, many Dalit organizations have also called for a Bharat Bandh on 21st August. BSP chief Mayawati has especially opposed it. She said that in this way there is a conspiracy to end reservation. On sub-quota, Mayawati said that with this, governments will be able to give quota to any caste as per their wish and their political interests will be fulfilled. Such a decision is not right. Not only this, she also opposed the opinion of the Supreme Court on creamy layer.

Mayawati said that it is true that 10 percent of the Dalit community has got money. They have reached positions, but the benefit of reservation cannot be taken away from their children. This is because the thoughts of people with casteist mentality have still not changed. Even after getting money, there is no acceptance in the society. In such a situation, it would not be right to take away reservation from them. Meanwhile, BJP and Congress have not given any reaction on this matter. But MLA GS Dharmesh from Agra Cantt seat has become active. He held a meeting with the representatives of the community on Sunday supporting Bharat Bandh. GS Dharmesh comes from the Dalit community.

BJP MLA said- meet PM Modi and get the decision changed

BJP MLA and former state minister Dr. GS Dharmesh said that any kind of tampering with SC-ST reservation is not right. Soon a delegation will go to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A demand will be raised from him to change this decision in the cabinet like the amendment made in the cabinet on the decision of SC-ST Atrocities Prevention Act on 2 April 2018. It is worth noting that Chirag Paswan has said to file a review petition in this matter. At the same time, Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad has also opposed this decision.
