Ashok Tanwar has been a Lok Sabha MP from Hisar. He has also been the President of Haryana Congress. In October 2019, he resigned from the primary membership of Congress due to alleged differences with Hooda.
The ruling BJP has suffered a major setback before the Haryana elections. Just two days before voting, former MP and Dalit leader Ashok Tanwar has returned to Congress. He returned to the party in the presence of Rahul Gandhi at the election rally in Mahendragarh. Former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda was also present on this occasion. The big thing is that Ashok Tanwar was asking for votes for the BJP candidate an hour ago but after some time he had a change of heart.
On his return home, Congress tweeted, “Congress has continuously raised its voice for the rights of the exploited and the deprived and has fought with full honesty to protect the Constitution. Impressed by our struggle and dedication, today senior BJP leaders, Former MP, campaign committee member of BJP in Haryana and star campaigner joined Congress. Your arrival will further strengthen the fight for the rights of Dalits. Welcome back to the Congress family. Best wishes for.
Let us tell you that Ashok Tanwar has been a Lok Sabha MP from Hisar. He has also been the President of Haryana Congress. In October 2019, he resigned from the primary membership of Congress due to alleged differences with Hooda. After this he joined the Aam Aadmi Party. When there were talks of alliance between AAP and Congress, he left AAP in January 2024 and joined BJP. Manohar Lal Khattar himself had included him in the party. Ashok Tanwar was a member of the BJP election campaign committee and among the prominent campaigners in Haryana.
Ashok Tanwar is counted as a dynamic leader. There was a time when he was close to Rahul Gandhi. In 2014, Rahul Gandhi himself appointed him the President of Haryana Congress. Before this, he had also been the National Secretary of Congress and in-charge of Youth Congress. Tanwar had resigned from all party posts after differences with Bhupendra Singh Hooda before the Haryana Assembly elections in 2019. Now by re-inducting him into the party, Congress has tried to tap the Dalit vote bank.
