Noida Phase-2 police on Friday busted a gang that used to extort money by making friends on gay dating apps and then threatening to make the video viral. Both the accused have so far extorted money from more than 20 people by making their videos.

DCP Shakti Mohan Awasthi said that a victim had recently complained that two youths befriended him on a gay dating app and called him to a secluded place to meet. While having sex there, the accused made a video. A few days later, both the youths sent a video on his mobile and said that if he did not give Rs 30,000 and a gold necklace within two days, the video would go viral. After this, the victim started fearing defamation and thought of ending his life. When both the youths continued to blackmail him, he complained to the police.

The DCP said that after registering a case in the matter, a team was formed to nab the accused. On Monday, the team arrested 22-year-old Kishore Kumar Raghav, a resident of Bulandshahr, and 20-year-old Deepak Kumar, a resident of Salarpur. A bike and mobile have been recovered from the accused. Kishore is 12th pass and Deepak is currently studying law from a reputed college. Both used to date by creating profiles on gay apps. After this, they used to make intimate videos of a person for the purpose of extortion. After the arrest of both, many other people have also contacted the police, who are victims of this type of incident. It is worth noting that a similar incident had also happened with a doctor living in Sector-20 police station area of ​​Noida.

They used to call them to a secluded place and make videos

Additional DCP Hirdesh Katheria said that Deepak and Kishore used to create their premium profiles on gay dating apps Blued and Grindr. Lakhs of people are connected on these apps. They used to send friendship proposals to people through the app. When the proposal was accepted, both of them used to start talking. As soon as the friendship grew stronger, they used to call the person who accepted the proposal to a secluded place. After gaining their trust, both of them used to have sex and a person from the gang used to make a video. Both of them used to put their photos on the premium profile. Both of them were committing such crimes in Noida for a long time.

Social media accounts are also being searched

According to the police, the social media accounts of the accused are also being investigated. It is also being ascertained how many people are active in this gang. Earlier, a case of such fraud and blackmailing has also come to light in Meerut city. Meerut police had also caught a gang. Noida police suspects that the Meerut gang has become active in Noida after being released from jail. Two such cases have come to light in Noida within a month.

The clip was found in the mobile phone of the accused

Many objectionable videos have been found in the mobile recovered from the youths. According to police officials, both the youths used to take only cash from the victims so that they could not be caught through transaction details. Apart from Noida, the accused have also targeted people from Delhi and Gurugram. Most of the obscene videos have been made from mobile. Soon the police will contact other victims regarding the case. For this, the mobile records are being searched.
