On Tuesday, the first full budget of Modi Government 3.0 was presented in the Parliament. On behalf of the government, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made several announcements for the middle and upper class people including several departments. Several welfare schemes were announced for the NDA ruled states Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. On the other hand, the Congress party has accused the government of discriminating against the opposition ruled states. In a meeting held at the residence of Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday evening, the party decided that they will boycott the Niti Aayog meeting to be held on Saturday. Stalin has announced the boycott of Niti Aayog.
The upcoming NITI Aayog meeting to be held in New Delhi on July 27 is to be chaired by PM Narendra Modi. Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal has announced that the Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states will not attend the NITI Aayog meeting to be held this week. Venugopal said that this happened because the BJP-led NDA government at the Center ‘discriminated’ against opposition-ruled states in the Union Budget.
The Congress general secretary wrote on Twitter, “The Union Budget presented today is extremely discriminatory and dangerous. The central government should have given equal weightage to all states, but it did not. The government has acted against the principles of federalism and fairness in the budget. In protest against this, Congress (Indian National Congress) chief ministers will boycott the Niti Aayog meeting on July 27.”
INDIA alliance will register protest inside and outside the parliament
Let us tell you that the Congress party has governments in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. The three Chief Ministers here, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu (Himachal Pradesh), Siddaramaiah (Karnataka) and Revanth Reddy (Telangana) have announced to boycott the meeting of NITI Aayog. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has also announced that he will not participate in the program of NITI Aayog. He has also accused the state of Tamil Nadu of being neglected in the budget.
Venugopal also said that the party-led opposition party INDIA Bloc will protest inside and outside Parliament over the “discrimination” in the Union Budget against states with non-BJP/NDA governments. “This year the concept of budget has been destroyed. So, the general sentiment of the INDIA Bloc meeting was that we should protest against it,” he told reporters after the meeting held at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence.
