Case filed on financial irregularities in Kolkata RG Kar Medical College, CBI will now reveal new secrets

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation of the case of financial irregularities during the tenure of former principal Sandip Ghosh at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. This action was taken on the instructions of the Calcutta High Court. The court had handed over the investigation from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the state to the CBI. The official said that the CBI collected the necessary documents from the SIT on Saturday and re-registered the FIR. It is believed that some new secrets may come to light during the CBI investigation.

The court had issued the directions on a plea by Akhtar Ali, former deputy superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Ali had sought an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into financial malpractices at the medical college during Ghosh’s tenure. He said the college has come into media limelight after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor on the campus on August 9. The high court had directed the CBI to submit a progress report of the probe within three weeks.

CBI is investigating the whole matter

The court has scheduled the next hearing on September 17 to review the report. It is known that the body of the doctor was found on August 9 in Kolkata’s government RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which had marks of serious injuries. Sanjay Roy was arrested the next day in connection with this incident. On August 13, the Calcutta High Court handed over the investigation of this case to the CBI. The next day, the central agency took over the investigation from the Kolkata Police. At the same time, the polygraph test of the main accused and 6 others in this case started today on Saturday. During this, while the person is answering the questions, his physical reactions are measured with the help of a machine. It is ascertained whether he is speaking the truth or lying.
