Former MLA Narendra Kumar Pandey alias Sunil Pandey, who is counted among the Bahubali leaders of Bihar, has finally joined the BJP. Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal got him the party membership. Along with Sunil Pandey, his son Vishal Prashant and a large number of supporters got the membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Sunil Pandey was an MLA several times from Tarari assembly constituency of Buxar. Before the latest delimitation, it was known as Piro assembly seat. Earlier, Sunil Pandey had resigned from the membership of RLJP. His joining BJP is considered a big setback for former Modi government minister Pashupati Kumar Paras and Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party. In fact, on the strength of Sunil Pandey, RLJP had staked claim on Tarari seat for the upcoming by-election of Bihar Assembly. It is believed that Sunil Pandey’s son Vishal Pandey can contest from Tarari seat.
After speculations of the last several days, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal gave Sunil Pandey the party membership in a Milan Samaroh organized in Patna on Sunday. This is being seen as a major political upheaval in view of the upcoming assembly by-elections in Bihar. RLSP, which is part of NDA, had staked its claim on Tarari seat out of the four seats of the by-election. At that time Sunil Pandey was in Pashupati Kumar Paras’s party. BJP has not only given a big blow to Paras by including Sunil Pandey in its fold but has also rejected his claim in the by-election in one stroke.

Political experts say that it is almost certain that Sunil Pandey’s son Vishal Prashant will contest the by-election from Tarari assembly seat. During the gathering, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal said that I told Sunil bhai that a youth like Vishal Prashant is needed in politics. He should come forward. After taking BJP membership, Sunil Pandey said that we have been an MLA from NDA for a long time. BJP is our old home. We have to fight the assembly elections strongly in 2025. He claimed that the next government in Bihar will be formed by the NDA. On the question of son Vishal contesting from Tarari, he said that you are intelligent and the public is also understanding everything.

Sunil Pandey became MLA of Piro assembly constituency of Arrah for the first time in the year 2000. He was given ticket by Samta Party. He contested again in February 2005 and won. But he joined JDU before the mid-term elections of October 2005. Sunil Pandey was MLA of Piro and Tarari four times. His background was such that he had to stay in jail for a long time. Sunil Pandey is a resident of Nawadih in Rohtas. The short notice in which he has been inducted into BJP makes it seem that Tarari ticket is final for Vishal Prashant.
