Who is Dilip Jaiswal: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Dilip Jaiswal as the president of Bihar BJP in place of Samrat Chaudhary. He has taken over the command of Bihar BJP at a time when assembly elections are to be held next year. BJP sources say that giving the command of the party to Samrat Chaudhary did not benefit the party and the NDA alliance in Bihar. He failed to attract voters of the Kushwaha community, the second largest group in OBC after Yadavs, in the Lok Sabha elections.
Who is Dilip Jaiswal?
Dilip Jaiswal is considered close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He is currently the Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms Department in Nitish Kumar’s government. He comes from Khagaria district of Bihar and is considered a strong leader of the Vaishya community. According to the recent caste-based survey in Bihar, this is the largest caste, with more than 36 percent of the population.
Dilip Jaiswal has worked as the treasurer of Bihar BJP for almost 20 years continuously. BJP had made him in-charge of Sikkim BJP. He is also the MD of Mata Gujri Memorial Medical College, Kishanganj. Last week, he created a stir by alleging corruption in his own department. He had said that no work is being done in the Revenue Department without money.
BJP’s new president Dilip Jaiswal has been an MLA thrice. In 2022, he surprised everyone by winning the Legislative Council seat formed by combining Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria districts. In this election, Mukhiya, Panchayat Samiti, District Council members and elected representatives of the ward vote. In this election, he won the election with the highest number of votes.
Dilip Jaiswal is the poster boy of BJP in Seemanchal
Dilip Jaiswal has openly done Hindutva politics in Seemanchal. This is the reason why BJP gave him a ticket from a Muslim dominated Lok Sabha seat like Kishanganj in the 2014 elections. He lost the election by more than 2 lakh votes. However, Dilip Jaiswal does not have a statewide image. He was once considered close to BJP’s strong leader Sushil Modi. This is the reason why Nitish Kumar will also like him.
