Despite several rounds of meetings, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is unable to reach a consensus on seat sharing for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. There is a dispute among the constituent parties over the number of seats as well as claims on them. At the same time, there are many seats on which Congress, Shiv Sena and NCP (SP) have claims. Let us tell you that four meetings have been held in a month between the constituent parties of the Maha Vikas Aghadi regarding seat sharing. But till now no consensus has been reached on three dozen seats in Mumbai.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has claimed consensus in Mumbai, but Congress and NCP (SP) have rejected it.
A state Congress leader said that Shiv Sena (UBT) is continuously putting pressure to declare a chief ministerial candidate. This issue is raised in almost every meeting. But the committee formed for seat sharing does not have the right to declare a face for the post of Chief Minister. The final decision in this regard will be taken by the top leadership of Congress. Like the Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) is also claiming more seats in the Assembly. But Congress wants to divide the seats by making the Lok Sabha election results a criterion. In the Lok Sabha, Congress was successful in winning 13 out of 17 seats.
Congress is not ready to bow down
In 2019, Shiv Sena had an alliance with BJP. At that time, Shiv Sena contested elections on 124 seats and won 56. BJP contested elections on 150 seats. But now Shiv Sena has split into two. In such a situation, Congress is not ready to give seats to the state Shiv Sena (UBT) as per its demand. Due to this, consensus could not be reached despite four rounds of meetings.
