Delhi Heavy Rains: The people of the national capital Delhi and NCR have got great relief from the rising mercury, heat and humidity. After a dust storm on Wednesday evening, dark clouds rained heavily with strong winds. Due to this, the temperature has dropped by up to 5 degrees Celsius. For the last several days, people in many cities of North India including Delhi were troubled by heat and humidity. IMD had already told that on Wednesday there will be torrential rain in Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and hilly states.
As soon as it was evening on Wednesday, the clouds started raining. There were strong winds, lightning and heavy rain. On one hand, Delhiites have heaved a sigh of relief, while on the other hand, people returning from office have had to face difficulties. Waterlogging has caused traffic jams in many areas of Delhi. People returning home from offices have had to face difficulties. Before this, the clouds continued to play hide and seek throughout the day. However, the Meteorological Department had already predicted heavy rain in Delhi till August 2.
On Wednesday, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 30.4 degrees Celsius, which is 3.3 degrees Celsius above the normal temperature for this season. The relative humidity level in the city was recorded at 79 percent at 8.30 am, but now the mercury has dropped and the weather has become pleasant. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 39.3 degrees Celsius, which is the highest in July this year.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the southwest monsoon is fully active in most parts of the country. IMD has said in the latest bulletin that northwest, central and eastern India are expected to receive heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall in the next three to four days. The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rains or extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over the west coast in the next five days.
According to the department, heavy rains may occur at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, East Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, Gujarat, Coastal Karnataka and Mizoram till August 3. The IMD said that moderate to heavy rains may occur over Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal during the next 24 hours. The Meteorological Department said that from July 31 to August 3, very heavy rains may occur at isolated places over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Madhya Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur.
Apart from this, very heavy rains are expected in some parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and isolated parts of north-eastern Rajasthan in the next three days.
