Delhi Weather: The weather is kind to Delhi-NCR. It rained in many areas even after midnight. The waterlogging after heavy rain on Wednesday evening once again caused traffic jams. Due to waterlogging in different areas during peak hours, people had to face the problem of long traffic jams. Due to rain, the maximum temperature has dropped by two degrees. The Meteorological Department has predicted that light to moderate rain may occur in some areas on Thursday as well. The department has issued a yellow alert for today. The rain will continue till the weekend.

Good rain in many places

There was light cloud movement in most areas of Delhi since morning. The clouds started getting dense in the afternoon and after three o’clock there was good rain at many places. The maximum rainfall of 46 mm was recorded in Mayur Vihar area. 26 mm rainfall was recorded in Najafgarh. Due to this the temperature also dropped considerably. The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 32.4 degree Celsius at Safdarjung, the standard observatory of the Meteorological Department, which is two degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was 26.4 degree Celsius, which is one degree below normal.

Trough line passing nearby

Meteorological department officials said that the monsoon trough line is close to Delhi-NCR. Due to this the weather is humid and it has started raining. An IMD official said, ‘We expect intermittent light rain in most parts of Delhi-NCR, while some places will also receive moderate rain. The rain will continue till the weekend. Light rain is expected in the next two days and light to moderate rain on Saturday and Sunday.’ The air quality remained satisfactory. The 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) at 10 am on Wednesday was in the 63 (satisfactory) category.

60% complaints are about broken roads and waterlogging

According to the data received through the PWD Seva app, the most complaints are about waterlogging. In July, the PWD received a total of 4071 complaints, out of which 2503 complaints were only about roads, potholes and waterlogging. Out of the 1173 complaints received in the first six days of August, 634 complaints, or more than 54 percent of the total, were about waterlogging and bad condition of roads.
