IAS officer Dharmendra becomes the new Chief Secretary of Delhi, will replace Naresh Kumar, NCR News

The central government has appointed 1989 batch IAS officer Dharmendra as the new Chief Secretary of the capital Delhi. He will replace 1987 batch IAS officer Naresh Kumar. Naresh Kumar’s extension of service ended on 31 August.

In the official appointment order issued by the Union Home Ministry on Friday, senior IAS officer of 1989 batch AGMUT cadre Dharmendra has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi Government. Dharmendra is currently the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh.

According to the order issued by the Home Ministry, Dharmendra, currently posted as Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, will take over the new charge from September 1 or the date of assuming charge, whichever is later.

The present Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, who was earlier given two extensions by the Central government, is completing his tenure on August 31.

Let us tell you that earlier there was confusion about the name of the new Chief Secretary in Delhi. Throughout the day on Friday, discussions were going on in the political corridors as well as among the officials about different names for this post. Some believed that the current Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar could get a third extension, but a faction believed that this time the name of 1989 batch officer Dharmendra is leading in the race for the Chief Secretary.
