Preparations for the Maharashtra Assembly elections are underway. Meanwhile, the Nationalist Congress Party (SP) has made a big claim. The party says that if Ajit Pawar had not parted ways, he would have become the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The special thing is that the statement from senior leader Sharad Pawar’s faction has come at a time when there is speculation that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray is persuading allies for the post of Chief Minister.
According to media reports, NCP (SP) leader Jayant Patil has also taken a dig at Ajit Pawar. He said that Ajit has been an MLA since 1990, but Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis who came after him have moved ahead. There are reports that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is trying to expand its family in the state and is also preparing to bring together smaller parties.
Patil said, ‘If he (Ajit Pawar) had not left the party, he would have become the Chief Minister. The situation is good for MVA right now. The next CM will be only from Mahavikas Aghadi.’ Regarding the return of leaders to Sharad Pawar faction, he said, ‘They are in touch with us, but I do not want to believe that they are coming back. The sword of investigation agencies is hanging over their heads. Some of them are happy where they are. I don’t think they are coming.’
In the year 1991, Ajit Pawar entered the assembly for the first time by winning the election from Baramati. Baramati is considered the stronghold of the Pawar family. After this he also became an MP. The special thing is that Fadnavis won the first assembly election in 1999 and Shinde in 2004. After this, both have also become Chief Ministers. Fadnavis took oath as CM on 31 October 2014. Whereas, Shinde became CM on 30 June 2022.
Uddhav Thackeray reached Delhi
It is reported that Uddhav had recently visited Delhi. During that time his wife and son Aditya Thackeray were also present with him. He met many senior leaders of Congress and NCP (SP). It is being said that the purpose of this visit was to convince the colleagues to declare him as the Chief Ministerial face. However, nothing has been said officially about this.
