Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a stern warning to Lebanon’s armed group Hezbollah. He said on Sunday that Tel Aviv has attacked Hezbollah in recent days in a way that it cannot even imagine. News agency Reuters quoted Netanyahu as saying, “If Hezbollah has not understood the message, I promise it will.” His statement came at a time when Israel has launched heavy attacks on Iran-backed Hezbollah bases in Lebanon. Hezbollah also retaliated and fired rockets at military bases in the north of Israel.
On Sunday itself, more than 100 rockets were fired from Lebanon on the northern areas of Israel overnight. The Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday that no one has been reported injured so far. Earlier in the day, Israeli TV broadcaster Channel 12 reported that in the last few hours, large areas of northern Israel were shelled by Hezbollah. Alarm sirens were sounded 11 times overnight in the northern areas of the country.
Israel and Hezbollah attack each other
The army wrote on Telegram, ‘Sirens sounded in several areas of northern Israel between 6:24 am and 07:00 am. About 85 rockets entering Israeli territory from Lebanon were identified and some of them were intercepted.’ The IDF said Israeli rescue services are engaged in firefighting operations in areas exposed to attacks. Tensions have escalated since Israel launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip in October 2023. The Israeli army and Hezbollah have been firing across the border almost every day.
