Nandgram police on Wednesday revealed the incident of acid attack on a woman on August 21 in Ghaziabad’s Rajnagar Extension. According to police officials, the woman herself got the acid attack done on herself to trap her husband and her lover’s wife. The woman planned this with her lover and then got acid thrown on her by a cab driver she knew. Police say that the woman, her lover and the cab driver have been arrested and the acid bottle has been recovered.
DCP City Rajesh Kumar said that Priyanka Sharma, who lives in Migsun Society located in Rajnagar Extension, works in a high profile job in a company. Priyanka Sharma, originally from Kotdwar, had a love marriage with Arpit Kaushik, a resident of Patel Nagar, in the year 2018, but after two years of marriage, she had a rift with her husband and started living separately from her husband in a flat in Migsun Society. DCP City said that on August 21, Priyanka had filed a case in Nandgram police station regarding the acid attack on her. In this, she had accused her husband Arpit Kaushik, Pulkit Tyagi’s wife and brother-in-law. She said that she had left the society on a Rapido bike. As soon as she went some distance, a person came from behind and threw acid on her, due to which she got burnt. Pulkit, who reached on information, admitted her to the hospital.
Pulkit and Priyanka received 50 calls in half an hour: DCP City said that all the cameras installed from the crime scene to Priyanka’s society were checked. The footage showed that Priyanka had left the society on a Rapido bike with a dupatta covering her face. The Rapido driver told during interrogation that Priyanka had thrown away the helmet given by him after travelling some distance. When he got down to pick up the helmet, a biker coming from behind threw acid on her. Apart from this, when Priyanka’s call details were examined, it was found that she had talked to Pulkit on the phone 50 times during the half an hour of the incident. Pulkit was also at some distance from the crime scene at the time of the incident.
The motive was to send the husband and the lover’s wife to jail
According to the DCP, Priyanka was having a dispute with her husband Arpit Kaushik and was having an affair with the married Pulkit. Priyanka had hatched this plan to get the husband and the lover’s wife out of the way. She fabricated a fake story of acid attack to send them to jail. The plan was that she would marry Pulkit after both of them were sent to jail. The DCP says that Priyanka had to travel a lot for her job, for which she used Ankit’s cab. Priyanka and Pulkit had lured Ankit into this conspiracy for the acid attack. Ankit had bought low-intensity acid from a shop.
Pulkit is preparing for civil services
DCP City said that Pulkit Tyagi has done B.Tech from IIT. Currently he is preparing for UPSC. Pulkit’s brother-in-law is a friend of Priyanka’s husband Arpit. He also started visiting Priyanka’s house along with brother-in-law. It is said that Priyanka and Pulkit came close to each other during their visits to the house. Police investigation has revealed that Priyanka’s husband Arpit also had an illicit relationship with another woman.
