That means the person’s iPhone phone had now become God’s property. The temple administration said that if the devotee wants, he can take the data of the phone but the phone cannot be returned. But the person did not agree to this decision. When the matter reached the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR and CE) of Tamil Nadu, the department also said that whatever is deposited in the Hundi becomes the property of the temple.
HR&CE Minister PK Shekhar Babu clarified that whatever is offered in the Hundi, whether it is offered voluntarily or by mistake, goes to God’s account. He further said that as per the prevailing temple tradition and rules, any item put in the Hundi cannot be returned. Because it becomes the property of the deity. However, he also said that the matter will be discussed with the department officials, and the possibility of giving compensation to the devotee will be looked into if the need is felt.
