Joint Director of UP Secondary Education arrested while taking bribe of Rs 3 lakh, demand was for Rs 10 lakh

Divisional Joint Director of Secondary Education Rampratap Sharma was caught red handed taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh on Saturday. Vigilance had laid a trap on the complaint. The team caught him as soon as he took the bribe amount. Vigilance has registered a case against the accused officer under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused officer will be presented in the Vigilance Court in Meerut.

SP Vigilance Agra Sector Shagun Gautam said that there was a complaint of fake appointment against Assistant Teacher Ajaypal Singh posted in DC Vedic Inter College. Ajaypal Singh is a resident of BS Tower Awas Vikas Colony Sector 3. An inquiry was earlier done by DIOS on the complaint against him. In which he got a clean chit. A committee was formed for the second inquiry. The chairman of the committee is the accused officer Rampratap Sharma. Ajaypal Singh complained to the Vigilance that ten lakh rupees have been demanded in lieu of settling the inquiry. Three lakh rupees have been demanded in advance before disposing of the file. A confidential inquiry was conducted on the complaint. The confidential inquiry confirmed that after the transaction, the file is disposed of in the office of the Joint Director Secondary Education.

Ajay Pal reached with the bribe amount in the evening. He gave the amount to the accused officer. Meanwhile, the team reached and caught him. The action created a stir in the education department.
