According to the police, Heera Lal Sharma, who worked as a carpenter at the Indian Spinal Injury Center in Vasant Kunj for the last 28 years, and his four daughters – Neetu (26), Nikki (24), Neeru (23) and Nidhi (20) committed suicide. The police officer said that the investigation team will also visit the sweet shop to find out from where Heera Lal Sharma bought sulfas (poison) and why he took this step. No injury marks of any kind were found on the dead bodies. Police found three packets of sulfas poison, five glasses and a spoon containing suspicious liquid from the house. Neighbors claimed they last saw Sharma and her daughters on Tuesday.

The police officer said that CCTV footage of that day has also been recovered from outside the street, in which Sharma was seen going into the house with a packet in his hand. When police reached the spot after neighbors complained about foul smell coming from the flat on the third floor of the building, five bodies were recovered. Building owner Nitin Chauhan was informed by the caretaker about the foul smell, after which he knocked on the door, but got no response.

Police broke down the door with the help of the fire brigade and found Sharma lying dead in one room, while the bodies of his four daughters were found in another room. Heera Lal Sharma used to earn around Rs 25 thousand every month, but had not gone to work since January. After receiving information about the incident, Sharma’s brother Mohan and sister-in-law Gudiya reached home. Sharma was depressed after his wife’s death and was busy treating his daughters. Gudiya told that the daughters were good in studies.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Rohit Meena said the post-mortem would be conducted by a board of doctors on Monday. The cause of death will be revealed after post-mortem. The investigation team has formed several teams to find out the reason behind the suicide. We are also examining CCTV footage of the surrounding area to find out with whom Hira Lal Sharma last spoke and whether he shared anything with them.
