Mahindra XUV400 Gets 5 Star Safety Rating in Bharat NCAP Crash Test

Electric Vehicle (EV) of Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the major automobile companies, has received a five star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The XUV400 has achieved a score of 30.38 points out of 32 points in Adult Occupancy Protection. Apart from this, this EV has got 43 points out of 49 points in child vehicle protection.

a media Report According to , the XUV400 has scored 14.38 points out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. It has been given full points out of 16 in the movable deformable barrier test. The frontal offset deformable barrier test of the XUV400 has revealed that this EV offers adequate protection for the driver and his co-passenger. This is the only electric vehicle of Mahindra.

The starting price of XUV400 is Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Features like electronic stability program, tire pressure monitoring, cruise control and fog lamps have been included in it. XUV400 can reach 0-100 kmph speed in just 8.3 seconds. Its top speed is 150 kmph. It has three different driving modes, Fun Fast and Fearless. EC is the lower variant of XUV400. Its 34.5 kWh lithium-ion battery gives a range of 375 kilometers on a single charge. The XUV400 EL gets a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can give a range of about 456 kilometers on a single charge. It has a maximum power of 150 PS and peak torque of 310 Nm. It comes with a 7.2 kW charger.

The company has planned to expand its EV business. For this, Mahindra will invest about Rs 120 billion in its EV unit. It plans to sell some assets related to its EV business to its EV unit for Rs 7.96 billion. The company had said that it will increase the range of EV by next year. The XUV400 competes with MG’s ZS EV and Tata Motors’ Nexon EV. Sales of electric vehicles in the country have increased rapidly in the last few years. Many automobile companies are launching their new models in this segment. Tata Motors has the largest share in the EV segment.
