Two days after joining the Janata Dal United (JDU), former IAS Manish Verma has been given a big responsibility. Party president Nitish Kumar has appointed him as the national general secretary. Let us tell you that on July 9, Manish Verma was given party membership under the leadership of JDU’s working president Sanjay Jha and state president Umesh Kushwaha.
On this occasion, former IAS Manish Verma said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has brought Bihar out of darkness and into the light. Every moment he thinks about the development of Bihar and its people. Real socialism is alive in JDU. Dynastyism dominates in the rest. Before the Bihar assembly elections, political discussions have intensified about Manish Verma joining JDU and getting the post of national general secretary.
Let us tell you that Manish Varma has also been an advisor to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. And he is counted among Nitish’s close friends. He took VRS (voluntary retirement) from the Indian Administrative Service. After this, he became Nitish’s advisor. Before joining JDU, he was a member of the Bihar Disaster Management Authority. Manish Varsha has been an IAS of Odisha cadre.
Who is Manish Verma?
Former IAS Manish Verma hails from Nalanda district of Bihar. His father Dr. Ashok Verma was known as a great doctor of Biharsharif. Verma received his primary education from a government school in Biharsharif. He also studied in a school in Patna before completing B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT, Delhi. Verma has also worked with Indian Oil Corporation before succeeding in UPSC in 2000.
Verma’s first posting was in Kalahandi and then he became the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Gunupur, Rayagara, Odisha. He was in Odisha for 12 years before being sent on deputation to Bihar. In Bihar, he has also been the District Magistrate of Patna and Purnia. He was also posted as Secretary to the Chief Minister from 2016 to 2021. After his deputation to Bihar ended, Verma decided not to return to Odisha and instead took VRS from the services in 2021.

There have been many big changes in JDU in the last few days. In which the biggest responsibility has been given to Sanjay Jha. He has been appointed as the working president of JDU. And now Nitish Kumar’s advisor and former IAS Manish Verma has been given the post of National General Secretary in the party.
