Meta Connect 2024 Orion AR Glasses Quest 3S Headset AI Features and More Announced

At Meta Connect 2024, Meta has added several major innovations to its immersive tech lineup, with the biggest products being the Meta Orion AR glasses and the Meta Quest 3S mixed reality headset. These devices are aimed at taking augmented and mixed reality experiences a step further. They are equipped with advanced AI capabilities and work to enhance user interaction. While the Meta Orion AR glasses are still in the prototype phase and will enter the market in their final form in the coming years, the Meta Quest 3S is now available for pre-order. Meta Orion AR glasses, formerly known as Project Nazare, come equipped with a holographic display that allows users to overlay 2D and 3D content on real-world objects. Its USP is the integration of Meta AI, which enables visual lookup and contextual information, such as recipes, while scanning content. While it is still a prototype, Meta plans to introduce a final consumer version of Orion in the future, which will be redesigned to take the form of traditional glasses while providing an immersive AR experience.

Meta also launched the Quest 3S, a more budget-friendly mixed reality headset. It features a 4K Infinity+ display and is powered by the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, which claims to offer spatial computing via the Meta Horizon OS. The base model is priced at $299.99 (roughly Rs. 25,000). The Quest 3S supports popular apps like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube and comes equipped with a special travel mode for on-the-go travel. It also includes accessories and extra storage options.

At Meta Connect, the company also announced some new additions to its existing AI system. Meta is updating its open source AI model and Meta AI. Soon, users will be able to give commands to edit photos after uploading them to Meta AI. Apart from this, voice support is also being included in it, which will also support users’ voice and artificial voice.
