Meta to Legal Case Over Fake Advertisements on Facebook, Instagram!

American company Meta, which runs social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, may face trouble due to fake advertisements. Polish billionaire Rafal Brzoska and his wife plan to file a legal case against Meta over fake advertisements on Facebook and Instagram. These advertisements showed Brzoska’s face and gave false information about his wife.

These advertisements were circulated on social media. Rafal said that they have not decided in which court they will file the case. Even before this Facebook And there have been complaints about fake ads on Instagram. Regarding this, a Meta spokesperson said that the company removes fake ads from its platforms and works with local authorities to deal with scammers.

Brzoska, the founder of Polish parcel locker firm InPost, said he informed Meta about the problem in July but the company has failed to resolve it. “We are planning to file a lawsuit against Meta. We haven’t decided in which court we will file it. We are considering all scenarios. If action is not taken in Europe, we can also file a lawsuit in the US,” he said. Brzoska said he and his wife will demand that Meta not benefit from promoting content that violates their rights. Along with this, compensation equal to the amount earned from such advertisements spreading misinformation should be donated to a charity.

Last week, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office ordered Meta Platforms Ireland Limited to block fake ads using real data and images of Brzoska and his wife on Facebook and Instagram for three months. “Scammers use every platform available to them to commit fraud and constantly adapt their methods to avoid being caught,” a Meta spokesperson said in an emailed statement. Scam content violates our rules and we remove it when we become aware of it.
