Voting is to be held on October 5 for 90 assembly seats in Haryana. Several rounds of meetings have been held between Aam Aadmi Party and Congress regarding the alliance but no decision has been taken yet. Meanwhile, voices have started rising from within the Aam Aadmi Party against the alliance. AAP leader in Delhi and MLA from Malviya Nagar, Somnath Bharti, calling the alliance with Congress mismatched and selfish, has advised AAP that the party should contest the elections in Haryana alone. For this, he has asked to look at the results of Delhi in the Lok Sabha elections as an example. AAP and Congress contested the Lok Sabha elections together in Delhi. However, despite this, they could not win even one seat out of 7.
Expressing displeasure over the AAP-Congress alliance in Haryana, Somnath Bharti said, before the AAP-Congress alliance in Haryana, the Aam Aadmi Party should look at the similar alliance formed in Delhi during the Lok Sabha elections. He said, AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal did a road show for the Congress candidates, Delhi ministers and big leaders also campaigned for the Congress candidates but the AAP candidates and especially me did not get any support from the Delhi Congress and local leaders.
Mismatched and selfish alliances
Somnath Bharti also mentioned leaders like Arvind Singh Lovely and Ajay Maken. He said, Delhi Congress President Sardar Arvinder Singh Lovely joined BJP along with many Congress leaders in the middle of the campaign. Apart from this, senior Congress leader Ajay Maken refused to meet and local leaders like Jitendra Kochar (in Malviya Nagar) worked against this alliance and allegedly asked for votes for the BJP candidate for money. Somnath Bharti said, AAP supporters are not in favor of such a mismatched and selfish alliance and AAP should contest all the seats in Haryana, Punjab and Delhi on its own.
Somnath Bharti said in his post, BJP is on its death bed in Haryana, Congress is facing huge infighting and Haryana is Kejriwal’s home state. AAP should contest all 90 seats on its own to give the first non-BJP and non-Congress honest government in Haryana.
