India’s experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami has slammed former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq for accusing Team India of ball tampering during the T20 World Cup. Shami has also termed the allegations made by former Pakistan cricketers during the ODI World Cup as rubbish. When Shami took wickets in consecutive matches, former Pakistan players had claimed that the fast bowler had been given a chip fitted in the ball.
Fast bowler Mohammad Shami said on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, “Pakistanis were never happy with us and will never be. Some say we have been given a different ball, some say the ball has a chip. I have said earlier that if I get a chance in the future, I would like to open the ball and show whether there is any device inside or not. If your ball swings or reverse swings, then it is skill and if we do it, then we are tampering with the ball and putting a chip in the ball.”
Shami further said, “The team that performs well against them is targeted there. Suppose I bowled the ball from the device and the butt got pressed upside down. If I bowled inswing and it became outswing then it would be a four. This cartoonism can work elsewhere, these are things to fool people.”
Inzamam-ul-Haq had said during the T20 World Cup, ‘When Arshdeep Singh was bowling the 15th over, the ball was reverse swinging. It is difficult to reverse swing so quickly with a new ball. This means that the ball had become capable of reversing by the 12th-13th over. Because when he came to bowl the 15th over, his reverse swing had started. So the umpires should keep their eyes open here as well.’
