The issue of hooliganism during rain and waterlogging on August 5 in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, the capital of UP, is hot in politics. On Thursday, Pawan Yadav, one of the accused arrested in this case, met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. After the meeting, Pawan Yadav said that his name was Pawan Yadav and perhaps that is why he was implicated. In this case, Akhilesh Yadav expressed the possibility of Pawan Yadav being innocent and questioned the police action and the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath naming only two (Muslim and Yadav) out of many accused in the case in the assembly.
Pawan Yadav told the media, ‘I am thankful to Samajwadi Party and Akhilesh Yadav. I was not there when the incident happened. I was not involved in it. You say that you were not there but your name was made public, what will you say on this? On this question Pawan said that yes I was not guilty. I was not even in the video but whatever name the officers must have sent to them, they took it, they cannot do anything about it. The policemen knew that I was not there but how could I tell my truth. Whatever it is, maybe my name was Pawan Yadav and that is why I was implicated.’
What did you talk to Akhilesh Yadav about? On this question, Pawan Yadav said that Akhilesh ji has said that if I have not done anything wrong, then I need not be afraid. I felt much better. In response to a question, Pawan Yadav said that I have been greatly insulted by this incident. I did not know till morning what the matter was. I was neither in the video, nor was I there. But I was picked up. Your photo also came with folded hands? On this Pawan Yadav said that the photo was taken intentionally. I was told to get the photo taken, so I got it taken. If I had known that this was the matter, I would not have got it taken.
UP police gave this answer
After the politics heated up in the Pawan Yadav case and Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue, UP police has responded to it. In a post released on ‘X’, the police said that legal action has been taken against Pawan Yadav on the basis of available evidence. According to the information received so far, three cases have already been registered against the accused at the local level in which charge sheets have been sent. The police is investigating the current case. It will be resolved on the basis of evidence. In this case, neither the police has given a clean chit to the accused nor the court has acquitted him.
