Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made big announcements for infrastructure in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh in the general budget. Apart from this, it has also been announced to change the face of 100 cities across the country. The Finance Minister said that projects will be brought for water supply, water purification and waste management in these cities. While presenting the budget in the Lok Sabha, the Finance Minister said that there is also a plan to use treated water for irrigation in these projects. In this way, the shortage of water for irrigation will now be overcome. Apart from this, the issue of disposal of polluted water will also be solved to some extent.
He said, ‘We will promote water supply, sewage treatment and solid waste management projects and services for 100 big cities through bankable projects in partnership with state governments and multilateral development banks.’ The Finance Minister has also announced that investment ready industrial parks will be built in 100 cities of the country. The government has launched the Purvodaya scheme for the development of eastern India in the budget. The Finance Minister said that Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor will be built and its center will be in Gaya.
Industrial development will also be emphasized in Andhra Pradesh. Under this, Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor has been announced. A corridor has also been announced from Hyderabad to Bangalore. In this way, the government has focused on industrial planning along with urban development. Apart from this, the government has also announced a big expenditure on rural development and allocated a budget of Rs 2.5 lakh crore. Rs 1.52 lakh crore will be spent on farmers and agriculture. Rs 3 lakh crore will be spent on schemes related to women and girls.
