Was West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s mic turned off in the Niti Aayog meeting? Was she stopped mid-way during her speech? Actually, Mamata has made these allegations. On Saturday, a Niti Aayog meeting was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bengal CM walked out of the meeting. She alleged that despite being the only representative of the opposition, she was stopped mid-way during her speech. She said that her microphone was turned off after 5 minutes, while other Chief Ministers were allowed to speak for longer. However, the central government is calling these allegations false.
On Mamata Banerjee’s allegations, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, ‘CM Banerjee attended the NITI Aayog meeting. We all heard her. Each CM was given an allotted time and it was displayed on the screen which was present in front of every table. But, Mamata told the media that her mic was turned off. This is completely false.’ She said that every Chief Minister was given a fair amount of time to speak. It is unfortunate that the Chief Minister of West Bengal has claimed that her mic was turned off, which is not true. She should speak the truth, instead of again creating a narrative based on lies.

There was a clock which showed that her speaking time was over. PIB Fact Check posted on X, ‘According to the alphabet, the turn of the Chief Minister of West Bengal was to come after lunch. Stalin surrounded the center over Mamta Banerjee’s claim
Let us tell you that after coming out of the meeting, Mamata Banerjee said, ‘I have boycotted the meeting. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was given 20 minutes to speak. The Chief Ministers of Assam, Goa, Chhattisgarh presented their views for 10 to 12 minutes. I was stopped from speaking after 5 minutes. This is unfair. ‘ She said that I am the only leader here from the opposition. I participated in the meeting because cooperative federalism should be strengthened. At the same time, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has condemned the Center for this claim of Mamata Banerjee. Stalin questioned in a post on Instagram, ‘Is this cooperative federalism? Is this the way to treat the Chief Minister? The BJP-led government at the Center should understand that opposition parties are an integral part of our democracy and should not be considered enemies. Dialogue and respect for all voices are necessary for cooperative federalism.’
