Ola Electric to Start manufacturing of Electric Motorcycles

Ola Electric, one of the big electric two-wheeler companies, launched the electric motorcycle Roadster in August. The company has said that it will soon start manufacturing electric motorcycles. Deliveries of the Roadster will begin from early next year.

The company’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, has indicated on the social media platform X that manufacturing of electric motorcycles will start soon in Ola Electric’s new Gigafactory. He told that the level of Gigafactory is being increased with motorcycles. This electric motorcycle has been launched in three variants – Roadster, Roadster Pro and Roadster X. It has features like LED projector headlamps, TFT touchscreen display, auto hill-hold assistance, Krutrim voice assistance, parking assist and group navigation.

The Roadster It can reach a speed of 0-40 km/h in about 2.8 seconds. Its top speed is about 124 km/h. Ola Electric has claimed its range to be around 200 kilometers on a single charge. It has a 4.3 inch touchscreen. The price of the 2.5 kWh battery pack variant of the Roadster is Rs 1,04,999, the 4.5 kWh variant is priced at Rs 1,19,999 and the 6 kWh variant is priced at Rs 1,39,999. It can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in 2.2 seconds. The top speed of this electric motorcycle is 126 km/h. The company has claimed its range on a single charge to be around 579 kilometers.

Over the past few months, Ola Electric has faced a tough time due to a large number of customer complaints regarding service deficiencies. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is going to investigate the company in this matter. Earlier, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) had issued a notice to Ola Electric after a large number of complaints. Last month, CCPA had sought response from the company regarding about 10,000 complaints from customers. However, Ola Electric had said that it has resolved more than 99 percent of these complaints. After reviewing the company’s response, CCPA has entrusted BIS with the responsibility of conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.
