Olympic opening ceremony begins, Sindhu and Sharath will be flag bearers, other sports news

The Olympics, which is called the Maha Kumbh of sports, has officially started today. This time the Olympics 2024 is being organized in Paris, the capital of France. The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics will last for about four hours. The ceremony is being held on the banks of the Seine River. For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony is being held on the banks of a river instead of a stadium. More than 6,500 players are participating in it in 90 boats.

A total of 10,500 athletes will participate in the Paris Olympics. India has a team of 117 players, including 47 women. Badminton star PV Sindhu and veteran table tennis player Sharath Kamal will be the flag bearers of India in the opening ceremony. Let us tell you that a 78-member Indian team will participate in the ‘Athlete Parade’ in the opening ceremony. Apart from Sindhu and Sharath, other important players include archer Deepika Kumari, boxer Lovlina Borgohain, table tennis player Manika Batra and tennis player Rohan Bopanna.

The Indian men’s hockey team also has a match against New Zealand on Saturday, so only three reserve players will attend the ceremony. Rower Balraj Panwar has a race on Saturday morning, so he will not be a part of the athlete parade. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said that all the players who have made themselves available for the opening ceremony will be a part of the parade. The IOA said, “Many players have competitions on Saturday and the IOA has respected their decision to give priority to their preparations and not participate in the opening ceremony.”
