The government has asked people to be aware of a brand new scam, which is related to PAN 2.0. A fake email is currently circulating widely, falsely claiming that it is from the Income Tax Department. The email contains a step-by-step guide to download the e-PAN card. A link has also been given in it, through which people can be cheated. PIB Fact Check has confirmed that this email circulating is completely fake. People have also been advised to ignore such emails completely.
PIB Fact Check, through a post on X, has asked people to be alert about a new scam. It states that currently people are receiving an email, which claims to be from the Income Tax Department. In its post, PIB writes, “Have you also received any email to download e-PAN card? This email is fake. Respond to any email, link, call and SMS asking to share financial and sensitive information. Don’t let it.”
The post also includes a link to report such phishing e-mails, which https://incometaxindia.gov.in/pages/report-phishing.aspx Is.
Let us tell you that the government has released a new PAN card with QR code, for which people can apply. It is important to check your PAN card issuing authority before requesting a reprint. The Income Tax Department has roped in two organizations Proteus (formerly known as NSDL e-Governance) and UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL) for PAN related services. You can know the issuing agency on the back of your PAN card, so you will know where to request for a reprint.
How to Reprint PAN Card with QR Code?
Here is the process to get PAN card reprint through Proteus (formerly known as NSDL) online portal:
- first of all you https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/ReprintEPan.html But have to go.
- Now the next page will open, where you have to enter your PAN, Aadhar and date of birth. Select the box and press ‘Submit’.
- On submission, the masked details issued by the Income Tax Department have to be verified on the next page. Now select the method where you want to receive the OTP, which includes mobile, email or both. Confirm the registered communication address for dispatch and select ‘Generate OTP’.
- Enter the OTP received within 10 minutes of generation and validate it.
- After validation, proceed for payment. The charge for QR-coded PAN card reprint is Rs 50. Accept the Terms of Service and click Submit.
- Pay Rs 50 on the next page. Save the acknowledgment receipt generated later, as e-PAN can be downloaded from NSDL website after 24 hours.
- The physical PAN card will be sent to your registered address, which usually takes 15 to 20 days to arrive.
How to Reprint PAN Card with QR Code from UTIITSL
- First of all you have to visit the official UTIITSL portal. https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/reprint.html But have to go.
- Here you have to select ‘Reprint PAN Card’.
- Upon selection you will be redirected to a new page.
- Here you have to enter the necessary information including your PAN number, date of birth and the captcha code visible on the display, after that press on submit.
