IAS Puja Khedkar: Pune police on Thursday arrested Manorama, mother of controversial trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar. Manorama Khedkar is accused of threatening farmers and villagers over a land dispute. Her video with a gun in her hand went viral recently, after which the police was looking for her. Pune police reached a lodge (hotel) in Raigad, Maharashtra to arrest Manorama, where they found out that she was hiding with a fake Aadhar card and apart from her, her cab driver was also present there, whom she had introduced as her son.
NDTV quoted police sources as saying that Manorama had taken a private taxi to the hotel. Here she told the cab driver that she was her son and gave her name as Indubai on a fake ID card. The police had been looking for Manorama and her husband Dilip Khedkar for several days. Police sources said that with the help of GPS, Pooja Khedkar’s mother was traced, after which she was arrested from the lodge. CCTV installed outside the lodge shows that after arresting her, the police took her to Pune in a car and then arrested her.
Actually, the whole controversy started a few weeks ago, when trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar was posted in Pune. Here Pooja made various demands regarding amenities. She demanded a cabin, car etc. for herself, due to which the Pune Collector had to write a letter to Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sujata Sonik and complain. After this, when the controversy increased, Pooja was transferred to Washim and then after coming under fire for her disability certificate, her training was also cancelled.
Meanwhile, the dark side of Pooja Khedkar’s family also started coming out in the open. A video surfaced in which Pooja’s mother Manorama and father Dilip were seen fighting with the villagers over a land dispute. They threatened the villagers by brandishing guns in their hands, after which the police registered an FIR against both of them. Manorama has been arrested, but her husband Dilip is still absconding.
Pooja’s mother sent to police custody till July 20
After the arrest, Manorama Khedkar was produced in a local court. Pune district court has sent Manorama to police custody till July 20. Police have arrested Manorama on charges of threatening some people with a gun over a land dispute. Police said that Manorama was caught this morning from a lodge in Mahad of Raigad district where she was hiding. According to police, Manorama was brought from Raigad to Paud police station in Pune and formally arrested. An officer said that Manorama was produced in a local court from where she was sent to police custody till July 20.
Several teams were formed to find him
Several teams were formed to trace the accused Manorama, her husband Dilip and five others. Pooja Khedkar is facing questions over the disability and OBC certificates submitted at the time of IAS examination. She is also being investigated for her conduct during her posting at Pune Collector’s office. Amid the controversy, the government on Tuesday postponed Khedkar’s district training program and asked him to report to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration by July 23. A senior official said on Wednesday that the Pune Anti-Corruption Unit has received a complaint requesting an open inquiry into the alleged disproportionate assets case against former government employee and Pooja’s father Dilip Khedkar. He said that the ACB’s Nashik unit is already investigating the alleged disproportionate assets case against him.
