The SIT has filed a chargesheet in the sexual abuse case against former MP Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna. The SIT, which is investigating four cases against Prajwal, said that the chargesheet of more than 2,000 pages contains statements of about 150 witnesses. The chargesheet filed in a special court also includes allegations related to the alleged sexual abuse of a domestic help of the Revanna family.
The chargesheet includes the inspection of the crime scene, biological, physical, scientific, mobile, digital and other relevant evidence. The SIT said that expert opinion was also taken before filing the chargesheet.
Revanna, an MLA and son of former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Devegowda, has been charged under sections 354 and 354 (A) of the Indian Penal Code, while his 33-year-old son Prajwal has been charged under sections 376, 376 (2) (k), 354, 354 (A) and 354 (B) of the Indian Penal Code.
The first complaint against the father-son duo was lodged by a woman who was a domestic help at their residence. The victim is also a relative of the MLA’s wife Bhavani. She alleged that she was sexually assaulted several times. Prajwal had contested the recent Lok Sabha elections as an NDA candidate from Hassan seat and lost.
Before the second phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections, several obscene videos surfaced on social media in which Prajwal was seen sexually abusing several women. After this, Karnataka State Women’s Commission Chairperson Nagalakshmi Chaudhary demanded an investigation and wrote a letter to the Congress government in this regard. After this, the government ordered an investigation into the matter.
