Wrestler Sakshi Malik has given a big statement on the political entry of wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat. On Friday, she gave advice in a way saying that I also got offers, but we should sacrifice. Talking to news agency ANI, Sakshi said, ‘Maybe today they (wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat) will join the party, that is why they are coming to resign. It is their personal decision that they want to join the party. Our movement should not be given a wrong shape.’
Sakshi Malik said that my movement for women continues even today. I have always thought about wrestling, I have worked in the interest of wrestling and will continue to do so. She said, ‘I also got big offers but whatever I am associated with, I have to work till the end. Until the federation is cleaned up and exploitation of sisters and daughters stops, my fight will continue.’
From which political parties did you get the offer?
Sakshi Malik was asked from which political parties she has received offers? In response to this she said, ‘When I don’t want to go there, then why should I talk about it. This is not my intention. Even when I started the protest, I had not thought of joining any big political party. Many allegations were made against us. It was said that we are sitting here for some political purpose, but it was not so. The fight that we started is still going on. We will continue to raise our voice against the exploitation of our sisters and daughters.’
Will Sakshi campaign for Vinesh and Bajrang?
Will Sakshi Malik go to campaign for Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia? In response to this question, she said that I am completely non-political. I am not associated with any party nor do I have a fight against any party. She said, ‘My fight was against only one man who is Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. He exploited sisters and daughters. In this way it is clear that my fight is not against any political party. Neither do I have any attachment nor any animosity towards any political party.’
Vinesh-Bajrang meet Mallikarjun Kharge
It is worth noting that Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia may join the Congress before the Haryana assembly elections. Both of them met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leaders at 10 Rajaji Marg. Sources said that Punia and Phogat will join the party. Whether one of them will contest the elections or both will contest, it will be clear soon. Phogat resigned from the Indian Railways on Friday citing personal reasons. The Congress shared a photo of Rahul Gandhi with Phogat and Punia on its official X handle. Punia is a bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, while Phogat became the first female wrestler to reach the Olympic final. However, she was disqualified after being found to be about 100 grams overweight in the 50 kg category.
