This asteroid hit the Earth at a speed of 72 thousand kilometers per hour. However, it has been said that it was somewhat less in size than the first asteroid. But it was still such a powerful explosion that it left a huge mark on the Earth.

Researchers have used 3D seismic imaging. This crater is 300 meters below the sea floor. That means its marks are buried under a layer of sand. Its geological features have been discovered only through seismic imaging. Dr. Nicholson, associated with the study, says that there are about 20 such marine craters around the world. But this is the first one that has been studied in such detail.

The study concludes that its impact caused intense tremors due to which the sediment present under the sea floor turned into liquid. This caused landslides that caused thousands of square miles of damage beyond the rim of the crater, traces of which still exist.
