Shame on the Nawabzadas- Nitin Gadkari said on the increasing cases of hit and run

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, speaking on the rising number of hit-and-run cases, said there is a need to name and shame parents who allow such children to drive. “Despite the steep hike in fines for breaking traffic rules, people are breaking the rules. People ignore the rules and have no fear of breaking them,” he said.

Speaking at the sixth edition of FICCI Road Safety Awards and Conclave 2024, Gadkari further said that he has asked the engineers to prepare new designs of dividers in the middle of the national highway so that no one can cross it. He said that this is the only way to stop such people. Nitin Gadkari took a dig at those who cross the divider and said that some people in the country consider themselves special and can go to any extent to cross the road.

Nitin Gadkari said his ministry has also decided to build more foot over-bridges with provision of ramps on highways passing through urban areas to enable two-wheelers to use them.

Many lives are lost every year in road accidents. According to statistics, about 1.5 lakh people die in road accidents every year. Speaking on this, Nitin Gadkari said that more people lose their lives in road accidents in India than in wars with Pakistan and China or communal riots and other accidents.
