Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant returned to Test cricket with a century, while Shubman Gill also proved his dominance in red ball cricket by scoring a century. Thanks to the strong performance of both the young batsmen, India set a target of 515 runs in front of Bangladesh. India’s great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has praised the performance of Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. Pant scored 109 and Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 119. Pant, who returned to Test cricket after a car accident in December 2022, completed his sixth Test century in just 124 balls. He also equaled Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record for most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper.

Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill shared a 167-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Shubman Gill remained unbeaten in the second innings, while Pant returned to the pavilion after scoring a century. Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X, “It was great to see Shubman Gill scoring a century and Rishabh Pant looked as good as ever even after being out of the longer format of the game for a long time. It was great to see both of them in such good rhythm!”

India had scored 376 runs in its first innings, in response to which Bangladesh’s first innings collapsed at 149 runs. With a lead of 227 runs in the first innings, India scored 287 runs in its second innings to gain a lead of 514 runs and gave the visiting team a strong target of 515 runs to win. In response to which, by the end of the day’s play, Bangladesh had scored 158 runs for four wickets.
