Some people do not know about national interest, they are with the enemies; Vice President Dhankhar said on Rahul Gandhi

There is controversy over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with controversial MPs like Ilhan Omar and Donald Lu, who is said to be an expert in coups, during his US visit. Meanwhile, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that some people sitting on important posts have no knowledge of national interest. It is reprehensible, disgusting and intolerable for a person sitting on a constitutional post to join the enemies of the country. Dhankhar, while addressing the students doing internship in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat in the Parliament House complex, said that every Indian outside the country will have to become an ambassador of the nation.

He said, ‘It is so sad that a person sitting on a constitutional post is doing just the opposite. Nothing can be more reprehensible, disgusting and intolerable than joining the enemies of the country.’ The Vice President said that such people do not understand the value of freedom. They do not understand that the civilization of this country is 5000 years old. He said, ‘I am sad and pained that some people sitting on important posts have no knowledge of national interest.’ He said that a true Indian will never support the enemies.

Dhankhar said, ‘I am saddened and disturbed that some people sitting on important posts do not know anything about India. They neither have any knowledge of our Constitution nor do they have any knowledge of national interest.’ He said that seeing whatever is happening today is heart-wrenching. The supreme sacrifice has been made in achieving this freedom, protecting this freedom and protecting this country. This should always be remembered. Dhankhar said, ‘Our brothers and sisters are fully ready to protect the country. Mothers have lost their sons, wives have lost their husbands. We cannot make a mockery of our nationalism.’

He said that the Indian Constitution is sacred. It was prepared by the founding fathers of the Constitution, the members of the Constituent Assembly, after three years of hard work in 18 sessions, without any disruption, without any disturbance, without sloganeering and without waving any posters. This was possible only through effective mechanisms of dialogue, discussion, positive debate and deliberation. Many issues before them were divisive and it was not easy to build consensus. He said that now some people want to divide our country. This is the height of ignorance.
