Sunita Williams is experiencing 16 sunrises and sunsets daily in space

Astronauts living in the International Space Station (ISS) 400 kilometers above the Earth do not see sunrise or sunset only once a day. This happens to him 16 times. At present, Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams is also on the ISS and she also sees the sun rising and setting 16 times every day. When Sunita came to India in 2013, she had shared this incident. It is noteworthy that Sunita Williams was honored at Gujraj University at that time.

While sharing her experience, Sunita had said that she wanted to go to space and worked hard for it. I was lucky to see 16 sunrises and sunsets in a day in a high-speed spacecraft.

Sunita Williams has once again reached space. His partner Butch Wilmore and other astronauts are also there. Sunita and Butch flew aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft. After docking at the ISS, the Starliner developed a malfunction and had to be brought to Earth without astronauts. Because of this, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore remained in space. Now he will be able to return to Earth in February next year.

Why does sunrise and sunset happen 16 times on ISS?

According to the report, the speed of the International Space Station is 28,000 kilometers per hour. It completes one revolution around the earth in 90 minutes. Because of such a fast speed around the Earth, astronauts see sunrise or sunset every 45 minutes. This happens to a common man only once a day.

When astronauts are on the ISS, they see either a sunrise or sunset every 45 minutes. During this time, astronauts follow Universal Time and complete their daily work accordingly.
