Talkcharge mobile wallet app got more than 20 lakh downloads despite having a very poor rating. The company was founded by a man named Ankush Katiyar.

Talkcharge was initially launched as a prepaid payment service provider. The app initially started offering cashback on recharges. After that, it started offering cashback on deposits. Its users started finding this a profitable deal. According to the report, the company was offering a cashback of Rs 1,666 on a deposit of just Rs 4,999.

Gradually, users started trusting it. Users started investing large amounts in the app. The game of deception started in 2023. In July 2023, the company started charging 20% ​​service charge from the users. When people started facing problems, the company brought another fraudulent solution. In August, it launched an offer to get rid of service charges in which the company launched a No Fees promo code with a tag of Rs 1,49,999.

The company started fraudulent transactions in January 2024. In March 2024, many services including withdrawals on the app were stopped. Then in April 2024, it stopped operations. The money invested by thousands of people got stuck. According to the report, some users had wallet balances worth crores in the app which is now stuck. Complaints and FIRs have been filed against the promoters of this app across the country. A person named Ankush Katiyar, who started the company, has been arrested. Apart from this, co-founder Shivani Maheshwari and some employees of TalkCharge are also being investigated.
