Ratan Tata, India’s renowned businessman and former chairman of Tata Group, passed away late on Wednesday night. Ratan Tata breathed his last at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Ratan Tata’s sudden demise has created a wave of mourning across the country. When the news of his demise came on Wednesday night, everyone was shocked. Because some time back news was coming that Ratan Tata has been taken to a hospital in Mumbai for routine checkup and his health is fine. But on Wednesday night, Tata Sons’ current chairman N Chandrasekaran confirmed his death.

Till some time ago, reports were coming out that Ratan Tata’s health is normal and he is also doing his daily work. He is even participating in meetings etc. Then on October 7, he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. There were reports in the media that the reason behind his admission were some health problems related to his age like blood pressure etc., for which he was taken to the hospital to control.

Regarding the last rites of industrialist Ratan Tata, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that the last rites of Ratan Tata will be performed with full state honours. The state government has also announced a day of mourning on Thursday as a mark of respect to the late industrialist. The Chief Minister announced that the national flag will be flown at half mast in all government offices in Maharashtra as a mark of respect. Entertainment programs scheduled for Thursday have been cancelled.

Ratan Tata’s mortal remains will be kept at the National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Nariman Point, Mumbai from 10 am to 4 pm today, where people will be able to have their last glimpse. The last rites will be performed in the last hour of the day in Worli area.
