Monsoon continues to wreak havoc in Himachal Pradesh. After the massive destruction caused by monsoon 17 days ago in the same area, once again a cloudburst incident has been reported in Rampur subdivision. The flood caused by cloudburst last night in Taklech of Rampur frightened the people. To save their lives, people left their homes and shops and ran away at night.
The cloudburst incident took place in Damrali under Taklech Panchayat of Rampur. Due to this, the drain here got flooded and many houses came under threat. Several meters of the road got washed away in the flood, due to which transport facility in the area has come to a standstill. Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi reached Nogli late at night and took stock of the situation. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that there has been no loss of life or property due to this incident so far. The district administration is fully prepared to deal with every situation.
He said that heavy rains occurred in Damrali and Taklech late in the evening. Due to cloudburst in Damrali, the upper part of Taklech, a heavy flood of water came into the adjacent drain. When this flood came, the residents of Taklech clearly heard the rumbling of this drain. People came out of their houses. Due to this, electricity supply was also disrupted. The mobile tower in Damrali also stopped working. Due to this, the mobile signal of six panchayats here has been affected.
Rampur SDM Nishant Tomar said that the rescue team could not reach the spot because the road has broken at one place. But the local Panchayat Pradhan was talked to over the phone and he denied any information about loss of life.
On the other hand, heavy rains have also affected life in Una. Due to the flood caused by heavy rains late at night, a corner of the Rampur bridge on Una-Santoshgarh road has collapsed. Due to this, the bridge has been closed for all vehicles and vehicular movement is being done through an alternative road. According to the State Emergency Operation Center, two national highways and 58 roads are closed across the state due to landslides. NH 707 in Sirmaur district and NH-5 in Nigulsari of Kinnaur district are blocked.
According to the Meteorological Department, from Friday evening to Saturday morning, Naina Devi in Bilaspur district received the highest rainfall of 108 mm. Apart from this, Hamirpur received 76 mm, Palampur received 68 mm, Una received 67 mm, Gohar received 65 mm and Bagi received 48 mm rainfall.
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Lahaul Spiti, Chamba, Hamirpur, Una, Kullu and Kangra districts in the next 24 hours. Flash flood warning has been issued for Chamba and Kangra districts today, Saturday. According to the department, there will be a yellow alert for heavy rains in the plains and mid-mountain areas of the state till August 22.
