A stash of live cartridges of Self Loading Rifle (SLR) has been found in Gaya district of Bihar. Police have found 1490 live cartridges of the latest SLR rifle from a well in Mithapur village of Anti police station area. There is no water in the well, so it is suspected that some gang or criminal living in the village had hidden these cartridges by throwing them in the dry well. Police recovered these cartridges on Tuesday night after receiving information. Police has said that all the cartridges seem to be live.

The police is now investigating who owns these cartridges and how did they reach the well. The police is shocked to find such a large number of SLR rifle cartridges in this well built in the Bahiyar far away from the village. Gaya district was once heavily influenced by Naxalites and Maoists. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes are fixed on the police investigation so that it can be known who owns the cartridges and why he had stored them.

Anti police station falling under Konch block has been Naxal-affected. Anti police has achieved this success on the basis of secret information. Tikari SDPO Sushant Kumar Chanchal reached the spot and investigated the matter. Anti SHO Ranjit Kumar said that secret information was received about a large quantity of cartridges being kept in the well. When investigation was done near the well, some cartridges were seen thrown from above into the dry well. After this, a blockade was put in place and the search of the well began.

He said that a large number of cartridges were recovered during the search. The cartridges were brought to the police station and counted. He said that 1490 cartridges have been recovered. The cartridges are of SLR which are manufactured in different years including 2004, 2006, 2008. The Anti police station in-charge said that the place from where the cartridges were recovered is in the field of farmer Madheshwar Yadav, resident of Dukhi Bigha Tola of Kuan Mithapur village. How the cartridges reached here and who hid them is being investigated.
