Thousands of people were duped of Rs 100 crores through an app called Hi Box by luring them with the promise of earning big money. To trap people, the company got actresses and YouTubers to promote it. This new trend has once again raised the concern of security agencies. People should be cautious of such tempting offers. Gokalpuri resident Virendra Kumar said that he, along with his two sons, bought many boxes on the Hi Box app in July last year, but did not make any profit even once. More than three lakh rupees of his got stuck in the app.
An FIR was registered in the North-East Cyber Police Station and the case was transferred to the Special Cell. A similar FIR has been registered by the IFSCO unit. More than 20 complaints have been received by the police. Himanshu Agarwal, Ananya Chaurasia and Ankit Kumar have said that they have been cheated on ‘X’. According to the police, the number of victims in this case could be in thousands.
Rhea Chakraborty, Elvish Yadav did the ad
To deceive as many people as possible, the accused paid lakhs of rupees to actress Riya Chakraborty, Elvish Yadav, Abhishek Malhan and many other YouTubers and social media influencers to advertise. The police say that they will make the advertisers witnesses and call them to join the investigation.
On investing 300 to 1 lakh rupees on the Hi Box app, one would get a box. On opening the box, the goods that came out of it were bought on the same platform for 1% more money. If a person bought a box worth one lakh, then that item would be sold in Hi Box for 1 lakh 1 thousand rupees, but for the last two months people are not able to withdraw money from it.
