According to a PTI report, the accused, Sushant Roy, who was a patient at the hospital, had threatened the female doctor to treat her like the female intern. The incident took place at Purba Bardhaman Government Hospital. The police arrested the accused when doctors and nurses staged a protest demanding his arrest. “Sushant, a patient at the hospital, allegedly told the female doctor that if she did not treat him properly, he would treat her like the female intern at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital,” a district health official told PTI.
The officer said, “The doctor continued her work and kept treating the patient. However, after this she informed her fellow employees about this. After this, today all of us appealed to the police for protection to punish him. After which the police arrested the accused.
An India Today report quoted police officials as saying, “We have learned that the accused had gone to the Bhatar Government Hospital for treatment and threatened the woman doctor for delaying the start of his treatment. He said, ‘Did you see what happened at RG Kar Medical College Hospital? This can happen to you too'”.
