Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday made a big allegation against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Uddhav Thackeray said that the BJP is doing “power jihad” by breaking political parties to remain in the government. Uddhav Thackeray alleged in Pune that the BJP is involved in “power jihad”.
While addressing party workers in Pune, Thackeray also targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He also accused Amit Shah of being a ‘political descendant’ of Ahmed Shah Abdali. Abdali was an Afghan ruler who defeated the Marathas in the Battle of Panipat. Earlier, Shah had called Uddhav Thackeray the head of the “Aurangzeb Fan Club”.
Thackeray also attacked the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government over the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behan’ scheme. Thackeray accused the Shinde government of bribing voters by giving them freebies. According to PTI, Thackeray said, “If Muslims are with us and we explain our Hindutva to them, then we (according to the BJP) belong to the Aurangzeb fan club. So what you are doing is power jihad.”
On July 21, Amit Shah, while addressing a BJP convention in Pune, Maharashtra, called the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance an “Aurangzeb fan club” and alleged that Thackeray was its leader. He termed Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) president as the head of the ‘Aurangzeb fan club’ and said that he is sitting with people seeking clemency for 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon.
Taking a dig at the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief, Shah said, “Uddhav Thackeray is sitting with those who sought clemency for 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon.” He said, “What is Aurangzeb Fan Club? Those who feed biryani to (26/11 terror attack convict) Kasab, those who seek clemency for Yakub Memon, those who give peace ambassador award to (controversial Islamic preacher) Zakir Naik and those who support (banned Islamic organisation) PFI. Uddhav Thackeray should be ashamed of sitting with these people.”
