of NDTV Report According to, cosmologists have so far believed that the universe began with an event called the Big Bang. The new study says that our universe went through a phase of contraction before the Big Bang, that is, it shrank. Then it expanded. The study says that these changes played a role in the formation of black holes and dark matter even before the Big Bang. Dark matter constitutes about 80 percent of the matter in our universe.
The study has revealed that during the event of the shrinkage of the universe, small black holes could have been formed due to fluctuations in its density. Perhaps these black holes survived and due to them dark matter was formed. Patrick Peter of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) has said that small black holes must have been created in the early stages of the universe and they may still exist.
Researchers hope that in the future, instruments and telescopes such as the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) will provide new information about these black holes by detecting gravitational waves. This discovery also supports the theory in which black holes are considered dark matter. This research is still in its initial stages.
