On 23 and 24 September, the incident of looting earrings from women was carried out in the Muradnagar police station area. The police had activated different teams to arrest the accused. Based on CCTV footage and information from an informer, the accused Raza Mohammad alias Rajua was arrested from Meerut. During interrogation, Raza Mohammad told that he has hidden the looted earrings, pistol and knife in a field in Salemabad village, which he can recover.
According to the police, the police team took him to the place mentioned by him for recovery of these goods. During the recovery of the goods, Raza Mohammad suddenly took out a pre-loaded pistol and fired at the police. The police team retaliated in self-defense. The accused was shot in the leg and hand.
Assistant Police Commissioner Mussoorie Siddharth Gautam said that the accused has been sent to the hospital for treatment. Two pairs of stolen yellow metal earrings, two live cartridges, a pistol, two empty cartridges and a knife have been recovered from his possession. 30 cases are registered against him.
