Vivo Starts Sale of V40 in India, ZEISS tuned Camera System, Oppo, Samsung, Xiaomi

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo’s V40 went on sale on Monday. It has a camera system in tie-up with ZEISS, which allows users to do professional grade photography. This smartphone has Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 as the processor. It has been made available in three RAM and storage variants.

The price of 8GB + 128GB variant of this smartphone is Rs 34,999, 8GB + 256GB is Rs 36,999 and 12GB + 512GB variant is Rs 41,999. It can be purchased in Blue, Purple and Titanium Gray colors. It will be sold on e-commerce site Flipkart, company’s e-store and select retail stores. A cashback of 10 percent is being offered on the purchase of this smartphone. There is also an option of exchange bonus for customers.

The V40 has Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 as a processor. It has a 5,500 mAh battery. This smartphone has a 1.5K AMOLED display. Its camera system has features like Cinematic Portrait Video and Festival Portrait Mode. The camera performance is improved with artificial intelligence (AI) tools like AI Eraser, AI Photo Enhancer, and AI Superlink.

In the first half of the current year, smartphone shipments grew by 7.2 percent year-on-year to around 6.9 crore units. In the second quarter, smartphone shipments grew by about 3.2 percent to around 3.5 crore units. According to a report by market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), many new smartphones have been launched in the second quarter. Most of these were in the mid-premium and premium segments. Shipments in the budget segment of smartphones (priced around Rs 8,400 to Rs 16,800) grew by about 8 percent on a year-on-year basis. Xiaomi is also at the forefront in this segment. It is followed by Realme and Vivo. The entry-premium segment (priced around Rs 16,800 to Rs 33,500) has seen the highest growth of 42 percent. In this, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is at the forefront. It is followed by Vivo and Samsung. Shipments in the super-premium segment (priced above Rs 67,100) grew by nearly 22 per cent year-on-year, with Apple leading the pack with an 83 per cent share.
