Once again, an incident of molestation has come to light in Noida. A female journalist was molested by bike riding boys in Sector 18, the busiest and most bustling area of the city, 24 hours a day. Narrating the incident through social media, the journalist has said that a similar incident had happened with her in Sector 18 last Sunday as well. Apart from this, a boy had also asked for her phone number at Rajiv Chowk metro station. Noida police has started searching for the accused who molested her in Sector 18.
A journalist working in a private news channel wrote on social media about the incident that happened with her, ‘I was waiting for a cab near DLF Mall in Noida Sector 18. Then a bike passed by and the person sitting behind waved his hand and asked ‘what is the fare’. He did not even stop and everything happened in a few moments. Thankfully, I reached home safely.’
The journalist has also said that she has been molested for the second time in a week in Sector 18. On Sunday too, a boy stopped her midway in broad daylight. The victim said, ‘Last Sunday, I was going towards Sector 18 metro station during the day. Suddenly a man came and said hello to me. I was not shocked, then I thought that he must be one of my viewers. But I was wrong. He said don’t be shocked, calm down. I saw you walking, I liked you very much. So I thought of stopping you and talking to you. Who knows, a chance might come.’ The journalist said that she quietly left from there and called her friend and told him to keep talking till she reaches the metro station.
The journalist has said that she was molested three times in a month. Apart from Noida, a stranger came near her at Rajiv Chowk metro station in Delhi and asked for her phone number. The victim said that she will not be defensive about what time it was and what clothes she was wearing. Because all this does not matter. Many women are constantly living in such fear.
The journalist said on Thursday morning that ACP Praveen Singh called her and assured her of all possible action. The victim said that this is more of a cultural issue than a law and order issue, but the Noida police have taken the case in their hands.
