Australia captain Pat Cummins has taken an eight-week break from cricket before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The dashing fast bowler Cummins has been playing continuously for a long time. Cummins has taken this decision to keep himself fresh for the Test series against India. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will last for about 2 months, will begin on 22 November on Australian soil. Five Tests will be played between India and Australia. Both countries will clash in a five-Test series after three decades.
Cummins made his debut in the Major League Cricket tournament in the US in July but withdrew after 6 matches. He will be away from the limited overs series on the England tour next month. Australia have to play three T20 and five ODIs against England. Cummins believes that not going on the England tour will help deal with the physical stress. According to Fox Sports, Cummins said, “Anyone who comes back after a break is a little refreshed. You never regret it.”
This is a trophy that…Cummins is desperate to win the Border-Gavaskar Test series
He said, “I have been bowling continuously for almost 18 months since the World Test Championship final. After the break, I will stay away from bowling completely. Taking a break of seven or eight weeks will give good time and the body will recover. Then preparations for the summer will begin.” The captain said, “By doing this you can bowl for a little longer. It becomes a little easier to maintain the pace, this reduces the risk of injury.”
It is worth noting that India’s last tour of Australia was very memorable, which was recorded as one of the best series in cricket history. India then had a disappointing start in Adelaide. Team India was all out for just 36 runs in the day-night test and faced defeat by eight wickets. But after that India made a strong comeback. Despite the then captain Virat Kohli being out due to personal reasons, India won the series 2-1. India got a thrilling victory by three wickets in the final test.
